Dubai Police is world-famous for its fleet of supercars and luxury off-roaders, among which the G63 brings off-road capability without giving up the power of a twin-turbo AMG V8.
The Mercedes G-Class was born in the late 1970s as a military and civilian off-roader, developed through an agreement between Mercedes-Benz and the Austrian manufacturer Steyr-Daimler-Puch, which built it at its plant in Graz. Originally aimed at government and military customers, it gradually became one of the world's most recognizable luxury off-roaders while keeping its boxy original silhouette almost unchanged for more than four decades. The G63 AMG version adds a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 producing more than 500 hp to that base, pairing the original chassis's off-road ability with sports-car-level performance.
Dubai Police added the G63 to its fleet as part of a deliberate strategy to project an image of modernity and wealth, a fleet that also includes cars like the Lamborghini Aventador, Bugatti Veyron and Bentley Continental. Beyond the media attention, the G63 serves a practical purpose too: its four-wheel drive and ability to handle sandy terrain make it especially useful around the city's desert surroundings, something most of the other supercars in the same fleet can't offer.
